In 2005, Philips’ Flower & Gift Shop will celebrate 50 years of serving the Mercersburg, area. The business was established in 1955 by Robert and Esther Grove after purchasing Philips’ Seeds. Both businesses grew and the seed store was later sold.
Upon graduation from high school in 1975, Ed Mumma attended the Hixon’s School of Floral Design, Lakewood, Ohio. Shortly after taking a job at Philips’ that fall, he became the manager of the shop. In 1985, Ed purchased the business from the Groves and operated the shop in a rental building on Buchanan Trail West. Later he purchased the 3600 square foot Don’s Racket Store building. After extensive remodeling, the business was moved on April 1, 1989, to its current location at 112 Oregon Street, Mercersburg, Pa.
Since that time, another showroom and Christmas room were added. (The Christmas room opens with the annual Christmas open house held the second weekend of November and closes the end of December.) The FTD and Teleflora shop features country gifts, candles, plush, balloons, crocks, planters, and silks. Delivery area is approximately a 10-mile radius. The Mercersburg Academy and the Lininger-Fries Funeral Home are within walking distance.
Philips’ has built a reputation of the best quality, long-lasting fresh flowers. In 2005 Ed Mumma will have 30 years of expertise and 20 years of ownership in the business.

Business Hours
Our shop is open Monday through
Friday from 9:00AM to 5:00PM, and Saturday from 9AM to Noon. Extended
hours during holiday periods.
We are closed on Sundays.
Holiday Hours
To help assure on-time delivery
during the busy holiday season, place your order at least 1 day prior to the
following major holidays: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day,
Valentine's Day, Easter, Administrative Professionals Week, Mother's Day,
Memorial Day, Father's Day, Independence Day and Labor Day.
Our shop will be closed most major holidays.

Delivery Policy
A local delivery fee of $5.00 will
be added to each order, for each address. This fee may vary for deliveries
outside our immediate area.
U.S. orders must be received before 11:00AM in the recipient's time zone to
assure same-day delivery. We will do our best to accommodate later orders for
our delivery area based on our current situation. Orders received late will be
delivered the following day.
All deliveries must have a phone number for the Recipient and Ordering customers otherwise the order will not be accepted.
